    the madro foundation was born from both personal passion and professional purpose. as a black woman and aspiring neonatal nurse practitioner, our founder witnessed the devastating racial disparities that persist in maternal and infant health outcomes in our country. these inequities are not abstract statistics, they are lived realities.

    our mission is to combat racial disparities in maternal and infant health, with a particular focus on supporting black mothers and families. we are dedicated to fostering change through advocacy, research, and the implementation of direct service programs that promote equitable health outcomes for minority communities.

  • statistics

    improving black maternal and infant health is critical due to persistent disparities that put black women and their babies at higher risk of death, preterm birth, and low birth weight. black women, in particular, are four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes in comparison to their white counterparts.

    the madro foundation hosts events designed to bring communities together while raising essential funds to support our mission. these events not only benefit the foundation’s own programs but also contribute to other organizations and charities aligned with our mission.

    the madro foundation’s volunteers play an essential role in supporting the organization’s mission by building community connections, raising awareness, driving engagement, supporting research and fundraising efforts, and helping plan and execute impactful events.

thank you to our co-organizer, the 76ers, and to our incredible partners — barry’s, wonder, thrive pilates & yoga, leverage fitness, and pure green fishtown — for helping make this event so special.

  • event

    we partnered with the 76ers to host our inaugural fundraising event which marked the beginning of a tradition of advocacy, celebration, and impact. through event and raffle ticket sales, we raised $1,300 to support our mission.

  • tournament

    eight teams competed in the tournament, bringing incredible energy and competition throughout the event. the winning team took home two 76ers home game tickets, two 76ers branded pickleball paddles, and two “out of your league” totes.

  • raffle

    the raffle featured prizes from some incredible partners, including 76ers merchandise and two home game tickets, franklin pickleball products from the madro pickleball club, a 5-class package from barry’s, and a 30-day intro package from leverage fitness.

  • thrive pilates + yoga

    thrive pilates + yoga hosted a wellness pop-up during the event, guiding attendees through a 45-minute yoga flow class that brought a restorative and energizing balance to the event. instagram: @thrivepilatesyoga
